Cupcake Consolations

Today was the school summer fair. Thankfully it only rained for a little while at the start and then the sun came out and a good time was had by all.

There were lots of stalls, games and demonstrations in the arena, but the item daughter was most looking forward to was the cupcake decorating competition.

Well, she would, wouldn't she?

She spent hours this week making flowers, leaves and butterflies and then, on Friday evening she assembled her creation:

Unfortunately, she didn't win.

(I think the judges couldn't believe that a 7 year old could make such a creation by herself!)

She didn't win? But that is beautiful! Well done to her for creating it anyway.

It is truly beautiful.
I wonder what the winner cake looked like?

Maggie - the winner was a spider on top of a cupcake. Nuff said.

It's always the case,I can remember sewing some lovely little clothes for guess the Welsh Doll competition at my junior school on St Davids Day as a young girl. I was always good at that type of thing. I didn't win because apparently they thought my Mum had done it! I feel Izzy's pain.

On another note...you dont have to publish this bit... I love your blog, especially as I too have an only child. I enjoy reading about your family of three...life sounds complete. I get a lot of comments about having more children but I am simply happy with the daughter I have (thankfully hubby agrees) it's such a refreshing change to read about the lovely things you do as a threesome.

Wow its amazing and looks far to good to eat. The judges obviously could not spot talent.

What do you mean she didn't win? I call for a revote.

That's outstanding. I've never seen such an impressive cup cake design. Without doubt she should have won.

Anonymous - thank you for your lovely comments. I'm glad you enjoy reading about our family life - I too am happy with one child and after fielding all those comments about having another for about five years, my friends and family have now accepted that Izzy is a one off!
