My new cookbook arrived today:

And this Sunday I have my first Christmas concert.
Oh, and I have a scratchy throat, a chesty cough and I keep sneezing.
Yep, Christmas is coming!

as my friend who I know makes the best cupcakes even though I've never eaten one...do you have a red velvet cupcake recipe? Every recipe I can find in UK measurements (eg not cups) has tablespoons of colouring in, one had SIX tbsps! Is that right?
Ahhh poor you not feeling 100% this time of year - but you're not alone!! Somehow I imagine you will soldier on! I love Christmas and am far too excited for a 40 year old!!!!
Yup. AS I'm currently blogging about - our tree is up already. Blame the kids!
Get to the doctor before it gets worse!!

Ho ho ho
Look forward to hearing your reviews of the cook book.
It certainly is, I am all excited and I have not put my tree up already....honest
Jen - I have four recipes for red velvet cupcakes (too many cupcake books, I know) and they tend to use 1 - 2tbsps of red food colouring per 150g of flour. However, that is LIQUID food colouring (like Dr Oetker you get in the supermarket), one recipe I have uses only half a teaspoon of gel/paste colouring instead because the colour is more intense. If you want me to send you the recipe, just e-mail me (the e-mail address is on my profile) and I'll send it. Good luck!
Hope the sore throat improves. You don't need that in December!! I love Christmas trees. We've just been in to town and there was a gorgeous one in the centre of Berwick all lit up.
btw, I'm doing a giveaway on my blog if you're interested.

I'm so far from being in the Christmas spirit!
(But I have started eating boxes of chocolates, if that's any help?!)
Oh dear, hope that cold doesn't stop your usual burst of activity!
Lorraine - I know exactly what you mean - how can I still get excited at my age?
Expat Mum - now that is keen!
Mummy Cow - I have a postive pharmacy of stuff at home that seems to be working so far.
Maggie - Just enjoy the snow and twinkly lights
Auntie Gwen - were you the Santa my daughter met on Saturday?
Polly - I hadn't thought of doing that, may write about it after trying some recipes
Tawny - I suspect you have!
CJ - and I bet it looked gorgeous with all the snow you've had up there
Catharine - Christmas is all about the Quality Street!
ADDY - I think I've got on top of it thanks to Vick's First Defence
Really looking forward to seeing some of the treats you will be cooking up from your new book (hopefully you'll be sharing??)! Hope you feel better soon!
