A Very Happy Harvest Festival

Today was Harvest Festival at our church. The vicar was showing the children various foodstuff and asking if they knew what they were. At one point only my daughter put her hand up.

"Do you know what it is?" asked the vicar.

"Barley" Izzy replied.

"Well done," said the vicar, "and do you know what it is used for?"

"Beer!" she said, very confidently,

and much to the amusement of the whole congregration.

I was so proud *!

(I blame the fact we took her here in summer)

lots of children wouldn't know beer wasn't grown in cans .. good for her....just as long as she isn't recreating the brewing process with her chemistry kit...maybe she's ahead of you, best look for a Still under her bed!!

We took our daughter to the pub when she was six days old. She only drank the beer vicariously...!

My daughter's first words after "Mummy" and "Daddy" was "pub". I think it was because when she was little, we used to take her camping and inevitably end up having a meal in a pub to save cooking in the tent. Well done, Izzy for recognising barley, though. I doubt I could.
