Every volcanic cloud has a silver lining!

Volcanic dust from the erupting Eyjafjallajökull Volcano in Iceland has prevented all flights to and from the UK today.

They may resume tomorrow, but there will be delays and disruption.

My MIL was due to fly back from Italy this evening.................

(I know, I'm terrible, but she has rung us and she gets to spend another couple of days in Sorrento drinking Chianti, so not really a hardship for her!)

I didn't know the volcano had a name. Or did you just put all your fingers on the keyboard and type for 2 seconds randomly?

Kelloggsville - don't bet on it, she's already phoned us from Italy. At least she can't just turn up in time for lunch tomorrow.

Son is transfixed by all of this. He was running around last night, having switched on to the news instead of c-beebies, shouting 'there's just loads and loads of Thompsons (Thompson planes) and they're just on the runway, and they're not going anywhere, and do you know why Mummy? (speech now incredibly fast and high pitched) there has been a real, live, volcano, and it's errupting now!

About half an hour later, he said a bit more quietly - 'are lots of people getting killed by this?'

Now how do you pronounce that name ?

Glad that there's a silver lining (for us its not having planes flying across the end of the garden every few minutes)

Excellent, I think you should break out a bottle of Chianti in celebration of not having to hide today!!!

And watch your chest in the ash, shouldn't you be staying indoors?

Amazing to think that the UK is ground to a halt (in the air anyway), is it very quiet? Glad I'm not working in Travel right now...!!!
