A Very Merry, Merry, Merry Christmas!

Since I broke up on Friday I've turned into a domestic goddess getting ready for Christmas. I've finished decorating the house and putting up the cards. I've made hoards of cranberry and orange mince pies as well as more of those delectable Christmas cupcakes.

I've decorated my Christmas Cake:

Presents are all wrapped and delivered.

I've circled my favourites in the Christmas Radio Times.

All the food has been delivered (including a goose this year!)

The table is laid for Christmas Day.

All I have to do now is two concerts at the Bridgewater Hall (today and tomorrow) and Christmas can begin!

Oh well done you! You've been a busy, busy bee. But, you've laid the table already? I take it you have another table you normally eat at? Otherwise I now have an image in my head of you all eating your spag bol tonight amongst/around a fully loaded christmas table!

Your cake is gorgeous! Wow!

Okay, I have a dumb question, is it a tradition to have a Christmas Cake on Christmas? Here we don't and honestly I never heard of a Christmas cake until I ventured into foreign blogs. What makes a Christmas cake so special and is it a certain flavor or can any cake be a Christmas Cake?

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas with your family!!

Your cake is considerably more impressive than my "home made" affair!!!! at the point where you said goose I suddenly jumped up "OMG I was supposed to collect the turkey today" and hubby has just gone to see if the farm is still open!!! So thank you soooo much. You clearly are THE Domestic Goddess well done, have a peaceful and happy time x

As ever, I am in awe of your organisation! Fab cake. I hope you're feeling much better and, in spite of all the culinary activities, you are relaxing. Have a super Christmas.

The cake is fantastic - you are so clever and so organised to get everything done in such a short time.

Brighton Mum - yes, we have a table in the kitchen. The dining room is just for Sunday lunch and special meals- that's the one that I've laid for Christmas.

Nicol - Christmas Cake, like most Christmas baking, is a fruit cake made with dried fruits soaked in Brandy overnight before making the cake. You make it in October and then 'feed' the cake each week until Christmas by pouring a little brandy over it. Yummy! You must try it.

You did a really good job with the cake decoration and you sure got everything done on time. We had a family get together on the 26th and there were 25 of us, it was a good gathering but a bit hectic for me. Happy 2010
