Tomorrow, tomorrow, you're only a day away

I have that sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach.

I feel sick.

I have a headache.

I know I won't sleep tonight.

Why?

Because tomorrow is the first day of the new school year.

It's that back to school feeling.

Not for daughter, for me!

I think I'm nearly ready (remember it is seige mentality at the start of each term):

  • The house is clean and tidy
  • The freezer defrosted and the oven cleaned
  • I've stocked up on storecupboard essentials and made meals for the freezer
  • I've filled my briefcase with a cornucopia of necessary drugs
  • I've got new clothes and shoes
  • My pencil case is bursting with new pens

Yep, I'm ready.

We're almost 3 weeks into term now. I've abandoned my 'smart' dress for comfy linen trousers and v-neck jumpers; have had to buy more new pens; and am now so tired that I fall into bed a night with little more than a grunt in hubby's direction. Thank goodness it'll all calm down in a couple of weeks when I'll be well and truly in the swing of things.

Hope it's less mad than last year! Surprised it is hitting you tonight though - would have thought fellow staff not as stressful as THE PUPILS on Thursday!

first week into it and it'll feel like you were never away (I know this might not be a complete positive but stay with me here!), you'll soon be that lean mean routine machine again. I think it's the transition that's the hardest bit, you'll be flying as soon as your in there. Have fun x

(I wish I did a job like yours that makes a real difference in life - well done for doing it and enjoy the privilege; you worked so hard to get it)

The start of the new year is always the hardest part :) Over here, we are well over half way through our year... starting spring and counting down to the long summer break!!!
Loving being a teacher though!

So sorry for you. My daughter and I passed her old school this morning (old as in left-it-ten-weeks-ago!!) We got talking about how awful it must be for the teachers starting a new school year with endless school days stretching ahead of them after a long break from it. Then I found your post!! Recover with a mug of hot chocolate and a muffin when you get home!

Have a happy term!
I'm OUT of school for the first year of my life - first I studied for oh so long; then I tried to work as a teacher. Now I'm doing my own thing, it's called www.afiori.com and I don't have to get up early! :D

Hope the day went well! My two (children, that is) seem to have enjoyed their first day back and I've enjoyed the prospect of routine again!

I like your 'new you' article too. I'm feeling similarly: time to ditch the slobby clothes and get a new hairdo and smarten up. Sadly this still doesn't reduce the flabby bum & tum :-(

What a super cool teacher you must be.
Good luck!
