Three things I learned in London

Yes, I'm back; I survived four days in London with husband and daughter and will blog about it later.

To be going on with, here are three things I learned in London:
  1. Hilton hotels will charge you £8.85 for moving, just moving, three items in the minibar to make room for your tub of raspberries.

  2. There are wider entrance/exit barriers on the underground for parents with children: we only learned this on our last day after four days of my being whacked in the chest by the barrier! (I know you London mummies are laughing your heads off at that one, but how was I to know?)

  3. If you don't like heights, you won't like the London Eye (I don't and I didn't)

More later .............

Sounds like you had a good time.here's hoping... looking forward to your reports..

£8.85 to open the fridge door...They're having a laugh eh? Indignant I am.

1. I hope you got that refunded. I would have been fuming at that.
2. Even as a London Mummy, I did not know that - I usually just barge through the nearest one!
3. Oh dear. My sister-in-law was the same and had to sit right in the middle of the pod with her eyes shut!

So you have to rent space in the mini-bar these days? The last time I stayed in London my room was only the size of a mini-bar. Perhaps that's the problem...

Hilton are shocking, most places offer free wifi when you're paying a premium for your room, they see fit to charge £6 an hour.

FFF and Rosiero - don't worry I didn't pay it, when I replaced the items in their allotted slots I was refunded.

Rosiero - there you go, I've taught you something new!

The Dotterel - they wanted you to rent a fridge from them rather than use the minibar to chill your raspberries!

Little Mummy - other than the minibar thing, I really liked the Hilton, especially as it was paid for by Tesco (TGFT)

Oh yes, I have just read an article in a magazine that warned people about that very same thing!! Hotels have placed sensors in the mini-bar that charges you even if you just move something.

Did you get a refund??

Can't wait to hear/see more about your trip!

£8.85 ...... for nothing! We are all in the wrong jobs!

I don't like heights but I would go on the London Eye because you can't fall out!

Wider barriers on the underground....... now that is something I don't like...... the underground. Will only go with someone who really knows where they're going. So I wouldn't know about the barriers as I so seldom travel that way.

Glad you had a good time.

I've stayed in a few Hiltons and found some to be a bit snooty!! However, we stay at the Hilton Dunkeld and can't fault it.

I do think that £8.85 is ridiculous. Any amount would be totally unacceptable!

I dread the thought of taking Peaches through the turnstiles. Those barriers are ruthless. I sympathise.

Electronic minibars are nasty things.

Once found a dead fly, legs up, on top of my salad at the Hilton Hotel in London. Dread to think what the put in or on the replacement.

That is outrageuos, for moving something!

I'm with you on the Eye. I did it about 10 years ago and had to sit in the middle and close my eyes.

Just read Tim's comment, and fell to the floor laughing...
