It's the thought that counts

This is typical of what happens in my Working Mum life:

For Christmas my husband bought me a voucher for a massage at a local beauty salon. Lovely idea. Just what I needed. Very perceptive. Well done him. Big pat on the back and mega brownie points.

I've just realised that next week the voucher expires.

I work full-time, I have a five year old daughter and my husband works on Saturday mornings!

When can I go for a massage?

Do you have "float days" or "personal days"? Take an afternoon off to get it done. Many companies really believe that you are at your best when taking care of yourself.
I wouldn't think twice before doing this, with all the unpaid OT I've put in over the years.
Good luck!

Oh, you will have to squash one in. Can you get your husband to babysit one evening? I really hope you can find a slot, difficult as it is.

The one my DIL gave me expired on May 31, I must have sounded so bad on the phone they took me in anyway yesterday morning. The DIL would have killed me if I had wasted her good hard earned money.
If I was a little closer I would keep the little one Saturday morning for you.

sounds like you need to set up a playdate for your daughter on Satur....oh...that's tomorrow, could you beg an extention out of them? These things always seem like a good idea then reality bites - "BOOOOO" to reality.

Oh no - now that is just typical!!! But I'm so sure that if you call them up and explain your situation they will extend the voucher...they'd be cruel not to. Maybe you can take it in the school holidays??? You must. You must...

I feel your pain!!!
Perhaps you should take it in -- book one - and pay for it - using voucher.... even if it is some time away? Worth a try :)
Sure they will help....do they do late nights?????

So typical! As women we always put ourselves last. I say call in sick. Sounds like it's time for a ME day:)

Take a sick day - get your massage then spend the rest of the day pretending to be sick with a good book!

Could you not squeeze a massage in one evening?

I recently redeemed a plastic credit-card type gift card and asked the sales assistant if it had expired. She told me they're not allowed to put expiry dates on them. I thought perhaps she meant just her company, so now I always look - and sure enough, I think it's the law here!
